Two Become One

When Jesus is asked about divorce in Mark 10, He takes the opportunity to talk about God’s design for marriage. Paul explains more of that design in Ephesians 5. Marriage values women in a way that was revolutionary and places responsiblity on both husband and wife to be like Jesus.

A Life of Freedom

As we celebrate Independence Day this weekend, we know as the founders said that our freedom comes from our Creator. As Christians, we know that He gives us freedom that goes far beyond our freedom as Americans. He frees us from sin and makes us heirs, so we can celebrate our dependence on Him.

Value of Life

Because they believed in the Creator of life, the early church valued human life much more than their surrounding culture did. As followers of Jesus, we should value life at all stages.

Caring For Those In Need

“God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)   When He asks us to give, it is not because of anything He needs. He wants us to care for others through that giving, because He cares for them too. As we give, it opens doors for others to see Him more clearly.

Connected

In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul reminds a church from different ethnic and economic backgrounds with different abilities that they are all to be one body. We can learn from his message how to be the unified church in difficult times.

My Redeemer Lives

Jesus appeared several times after His resurrection. As we close our series on the Gospel of John, we look at the appearances recorded by John and what we can learn about Jesus from each of them.

The Greatest Story

Jesus was misunderstood, mistreated, beaten, tried, found to be without guilt, executed, buried and rose from the dead. It was the mission He took on about of obedience for the Father and love for us. It is the greatest story.

I Will Never Forget to Remember

In our nation, this is Memorial Day weekend. It is a time set aside to remember those who gave their lives for the U.S. We need times like this, so people will not forget. God understands this about His people as well. We will look this week at the emphasis on remembering in scripture.

I Am the Vine

In the last of the “I am” statements, Jesus also includes a “you are.” He is the vine, and we are the branches. Our connection to Him sustains life in Him. As we are disconnected physically because of social distancing, our connection to Him and each other might be even more important.

I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life

This “I am” statement of Jesus in John 14 is one of the most difficult for people in our world to hear. When Jesus says He is the Way, it is a claim of exclusivity. If we want to be with the Father, the only way is through Jesus.
